Sleep The Winter - eagleowl

The wind is battering the windows, whistling through the doors and buzzing through the nooks and crannies of my ancient old tenement flat. It's winter alright.

I'm playing the new single by eagleowl, Sleep The Winter. It's achingly sad, like standing on the windswept petrol-perfumed deck of a ferry and seeing a beautiful coastline of a country you never wanted to leave fading into the distance.

Today is unofficial 'Sleep The Winter' day. Almost all my favourite Scottish music blogs are very excited about this release and rightly so. As well as making amazing music, eagleowl are lovely people and the slow, sure beating heart of Edinburgh's alternative scene. The addition of this band to any bill makes it a special night.

They are launching the single with a gig at the Bowery on 11th December and the 13th Note on the 14th itself.

In the meantime, check out their last EP, For The Thoughts You Never Had on Bandcamp (you choose what to pay)

Could not agree more Milo. Lovely words.

Cheers Euan. Hopefully all our words combined will convince everyone else to buy it, I don't know how anyone couldn't love this band! The Edinburgh gig clashes with my work Christmas party but I think the owl will win it...

I wish I could guarantee I'd be there. I have Trampoline the day before and not sure I can commit to 2 nights in a row away from the wee man. However, there is no doubt that everyone should be buying this single and supporting one of Edinburgh's best acts. It's just a gorgeous song. But then that's really no surprise now is it?!

Understandable. December is absolutely crazy for quality gigs... I feel another blog post coming on ;)

Sounds good. I am going to have to spend as little as possible this month though. November has been spent being broke. Could do without that in December. Kays record going to hurt me big time though. yuck.

That will be worth it though! Considering staying sober for the first fortnight or I'll be broke too. We'll see how that goes..

Easier said than done I fear. If I still have money for my work Christmas night out on the 18th I will be doing extremely well indeed! Though the wee man's Christmas is already bought, so that's one less financial concern.

Hope you can make it along on 10th at some point in the day.

Good point, I might amend that to 'reasonably sober'. For some reason I thought the trampoline alldayer was on the 12th.. Can you send me the details?

See, you're actually right. My brain is so numb this week! It is Saturday 12th December. I'm a tube. Thanks for reminding me. Will e-mail full details.
